Full-stack software engineer

We're seeking a full-stack engineer to join as our first engineering hire. You'll work directly with our technical co-founder to build and scale our platform, with significant input into our technical decisions and architecture.

About Sempi

We're building a platform that makes reselling valuable items simple. Our software lets you sell across multiple marketplaces at once, making reselling easier and promoting sustainability through second-hand sales. We're a small, venture-backed team in Berlin. We bring experience from both successful startups and major tech companies, and we're ready to grow thoughtfully.

What You'll Do

  • Build and scale our Ruby on Rails application

  • Create responsive, user-friendly frontend experiences

  • Design and implement marketplace integrations

  • Work with AI services to enhance our platform's capabilities

  • Help shape our technical direction and engineering practices

What You Bring

Must Have

  • 2+ years of experience with Ruby/Rails

  • Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL)

  • Experience with API integrations

  • Solid frontend development skills

  • Strong English communication skills

  • At least one website or application deployed and maintained in production

Nice to Have

  • Experience building and maintaining production APIs

  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD

  • Data analysis and optimization experience

  • Experience with marketplace or e-commerce platforms

  • Experience with AI/ML integrations

  • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS/Docker)
